Position Summary:
This position is responsible for planning and overseeing all cashiering, payment posting, hospital/clinic billing, and collections for the organization.  This position also indirectly oversees admissions and registration.

Excellence in Practice:
  • Organizes, plans and supervises all functions related to cashiering, payment posting, billing and collections.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding the billing and collections procedures for the department with goal of maximizing reimbursement and collecting patient receivables.
  • Manages the activities of PFS staff; facilitates the training and continuing education of staff members; provides direction and support to staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in departmental operations; selects, trains and evaluates staff in accordance with departmental policies and organization mission.
  • Develops and administers departmental policies and procedures; participates in the writing, review and revision of revenue cycle policies and procedures.
  • Manages the information system usage in areas of responsibility; assesses opportunities for new technology and works with Information Systems department to develop and implement the systems.
  • Develops, analyzes and disseminates statistical, receivables and financial information and reports as appropriate and as requested.
  • Develops operating and capital budgets for all areas of responsibility; routinely monitors, manages and controls budget; analyzes variances and takes appropriate action.
  • Anticipates customer needs and manages dissemination of information to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and staff; ensures that staff responds to requests for data on a timely basis; resolves problems as necessary
  • Ensures that hospital/clinic services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations, organizational policy, and compliance requirements.
Essential Job Requirements:
  • Education:  A bachelor’s degree in business or related field is required.
  • Experience:  Knowledge of accounts receivable and credit/collection procedures, preferably in the health care field, is required.  At least three years’ work experience in Medicare and other third-party reimbursement is a strong preference.  Strong supervisory and team building skills along with a strong customer service commitment are a must.
